Purchasing Travel Insurance
Almost all travel insurance covers cancellations, medical expenses, evacuations, losses or delays, and 24/7 assistance. There is absolutely no reason not to purchase a policy given the extensive coverage and affordability.
While there are many similar options available, our current recommendation is Global Rescue which allows you to choose the coverages you want/need.
What does Travel Insurance cover?
Cancelled Trips
Due to the high overhead associated with heli skiing we do not offer any refunds for cancelations. Travel insurance will reimburse you this cost including any expenses you incurred as part of planning the trip (e.g. airfare cancelation / change fees).
Travel insurance further covers cancelation of your trip due to sickness, injury or death, flight cancelations, jury duty and if you are laid-off or required to work. It will also cover the lost portion of your week if for any reason you have to return home due to an emergency.
Emergency Evacuation
If something happens to you while in the field, there is no other way to obtain medical assistance other than using the helicopter which will be very, very expensive especially if we need to fly you directly to the Valdez Hospital. If you need to be transported to Anchorage, or even worse back to the lower 48 in a medically equipped aircraft this cost can easily exceeded $50,000 or more.
Injury / Sickness
If you are visiting us from another country, your heath insurance at home may not cover any injury or sickness that could occur during your trip. Travel insurance will.
Lost luggage, delayed luggage & delayed flights
If your arrival is delayed and you miss a fly day with us, we cannot refund you for this lost day and the flight time your group uses will be deducted from your package.
We can’t emphasize this point enough. There is no reason not to buy Travel Insurance for your Alaska Heli trip!
